Stop the Spread: How Radical Feminism is Infecting Society and Killing Western Civilization

People are waking up to the fact that the America in which they were born and raised is no longer the America in which they live. Radical people with radical agendas have been elected to influential positions and are not afraid to publicly declare anti-American sentiments and promote anti-American policies. Radical feminism has spread to infect various elements of our culture, aiming to kill every last Christian, conservative, and traditional value that is foundational to Western Civilization.

Today, Western Civilization is on life-support, kept alive by the very few patriots who refuse to pull the plug.

How did we get here? How did we get to a point where, in the land of the free, patriotism is controversial? Where citizens’ livelihoods are attacked because of their sincerely held religious beliefs? Where the unborn are ripped apart limb by limb in their mother’s womb? The answer is quite simple:

While radical feminism slowly infected American society, the Church went into quarantine.

The feminist movement in the United States was born in the 1800s, with the true kickstart being the Seneca Falls Convention. It was at this convention where Elizabeth Cady Stanton presented her Declaration of Sentiments, a document she wrote paralleling the Declaration of Independence to express the goals of first-wave feminism. Stanton’s first appeal is to natural rights. Her next argument was for the religious equality of women, stating that both men and women hold equal value in the sight of God. She finished with a demand for political equality, specifically the right to vote.

First-wave feminism culminated with the 19th Amendment, which gives women the right to vote. Since that time, women have achieved equality on nearly every level. Women have equal access to education, are treated equally in a court of law, are allowed to own property, and are paid equally for equal work, just to name a few. Once women achieved their first-wave feminist goals, their course of action changed. Instead of being content with the equality they achieved, they turned their focus to a more radical agenda. One milestone of their new agenda was the establishment of the first birth control clinic in 1916 which served as a major blow by feminists to deconstruct Western Civilization.

Margaret Sanger is a hero of the Left. As the founder of Planned Parenthood, feminists across the country celebrate her legacy and consider her a champion for women’s rights. What most people do not know, however, is that Sanger was a eugenicist and founded Planned Parenthood with the goal of killing off minority groups in the United States, and Planned Parenthood admits this about Sanger. As Christians, we should recognize that Sanger’s life work was completely anti-Christian and anti-American. By advocating birth control and abortion, Sanger encouraged society to reject God’s plan for the family, one of the core elements upon which America was built. Further, birth control and abortion encourage promiscuity by creating an “escape” from the consequences of promiscuous behavior.

It goes without saying that Christians must be against promiscuity as we pursue the holiness to which we’re called, and against eugenics, as all life is created in the image of God, with purpose, and holding inherent value.

Second-wave feminism, beginning in the early 1960s and ending in the late 1980s, builds off of Sanger’s work to continue destroying the family. The publication of Betty Friedan’s The Feminine Mystique prompted the beginning of the movement by targeting women in the home. According to Friedan, women are not fulfilled by living as a housewife and she presents the idea that women are victims to social standards and the expectations of men. She expresses this concept in the opening paragraph of her book:

“As she made beds, shopped for groceries, matched slipcover material, ate peanut butter sandwiches with her children, chauffeured Cub Scouts and Brownies, lay beside her husband at night – she was afraid to ask even herself the silent question – ‘Is this all?’” (Friedan, 1964, 15)

It was during this time that abortion was legalized across the nation in the 1973 Supreme Court decision of Roe v. Wade. The Equal Rights Amendment, though initially proposed in 1923, gained traction during this time and would have been ratified if not for Phyllis Schlafly and the Stop ERA movement.

As the Church and as Americans, it should be obvious that feminism today goes well beyond the social, political, and economic equality of women, and instead serving as the mechanism through which radical anti-American and anti-Christian agendas are infecting society and killing Western Civilization.

Today, we are seeing many of the goals of radical feminism accomplished. As many people wonder how our nation has arrived at this moment, the only logical explanation is that the Church checked out. Radical feminists infected the media, Hollywood, and the education system. These aforementioned areas of society influenced the last three generations of American children, indoctrinating them with anti-Christian and anti-American values, and will continue to do so until these values are normalized in our society. Meanwhile, the lie that religion must be separate from politics has, for a large part, kept Christianity quarantined to the Church.

Christian values are the values upon which Western Civilization was founded and are the reason why Western Civilization has been so successful. Because the Church has not defended Christian values in American culture and government, the United States is rapidly descending into a pit of subjectivity and moral relativism. If we want to ensure that the America we know and love stays alive for generations to come, Christians must bring their values outside of their homes and church buildings.

Ending the Christian quarantine is the only way to stop the spread of radical feminism and the death of Western Civilization.
